Upscale restaurant Coalition Pizza to open doors in west Carmel

For families on the go, trying to enjoy a quick dinner between kids’ sporting events usually means limited options.
Coalition Pizza wants to change that when it opens in west Carmel on May 12.
“Our parents spend the winter in Scottsdale, Ariz., and there are a lot of fast, casual restaurants there with upscale food,” said co-owner Scott Nahmias. “So when you are out with kids and just had a game or you want to catch a movie that starts at 7 there is no place really around here for high-quality food quickly.”
Scott Nahmias and his brothers, Steve and Lenny, have always been in business together, from an information and document management company to an office product and furniture company – Office 360 – which they still own.
“There are five kids in our family, and it’s something we have always wanted and thought others would as well,” Nahmias said. “We felt it could be a well-run, high-quality place and we wanted to provide that kind of atmosphere.”
While pizza is billed as the main menu item, Coalition also offers made-to-order salads, sandwiches and pasta. And people can order at the counter but won’t have to stand in line to wait for their food.
“You will wait at your table and it will come out to you on real china with glassware and you won’t bus your own table,” he said.
A high-heat wood stone oven means pizza will be delivered to your table in less than five minutes.
“We tried to keep the menu simple, but we will use all fresh, high quality ingredients,” Nahmias said. “The sauces for the pasta will be prepared fresh that day – we aren’t using canned products. And our salad dressings are all made in house.”
Prices range from a $7.75 for a cheese pizza to around $12 for a specialty pizza, to $8.50 – $11.50 for sandwiches, entrée salads and pastas. Beer and wine are also on the menu.
“From a location stand point there is a big need for food opportunities in this area,” Nahmias said. “A lot of people are excited about that, as well as the concept and the food.”
