Pub2Pub 5K set for June 25
The Carmel Road Racing Group has brought new meaning to the phrase “going on a beer run.”
Todd Oliver, founder of the Carmel Marathon, is putting on his third Pub2Pub race this summer. The Carmel-based 5K event is scheduled for 6 p.m. June 25 and will feature runners traveling from Brockway Pub, at 12535 Old Meridian St., to Danny Boy Beer Works in the Village West Clay.
Cost is $35 for those who pre-register and $40 the day of the event. Proceeds benefit the Humane Society for Hamilton County.
Two beer stations will be along the course for participants to enjoy a six-ounce drink. Finishers will be rewarded with two 12-ounce beers at Danny Boy, which will host a post-race party, and a shuttle bus back to Brockway Pub will be available.
“People really love the laid-back, comfortable feel,” Oliver said. “There’s been a lot of demand for this event and great feedback. The only real change is we’re preparing for more people.”
Runners younger than 21 can also attend and will receive nonalcoholic beverages and wear a special bib.
Oliver has organized similar races, including a St. Patrick’s Day “dash” that was one mile long on March 17. The inaugural Pub2Pub 5K took place in November 2015.
