Robert Annis did a nice job on his Merchants’ Square article. My wife and I are dismayed watching one store after another leave without any real reason. We did hear the rumor that Carrabas left because its rent was doubled. Possibly not true. But I heard from the manager of Butler Barbers that the Plaza owners just refused them a new lease. So, perhaps the problem starts at the top. The only encouragement is that on the previous page there was a feature by Marnin Spigelman on the status of Carmel. He seems to constantly have all the answers, so maybe he can solve the Merchants’ Square dilemma.
