Obituary: John Thomas Kirk
John Thomas Kirk, 86, of Carmel died on Aug. 13. John was born March 24, 1929, in Carmel to John and Bessie Richardson Kirk.
John began his successful career in 1952, starting in the appliance business then expanding to furniture, boats, and real estate.
Beyond his business successes, John was a member of the Carmel Masonic Lodge, The Indianapolis Scottish Rite, Indianapolis Murat Shrine, Optimist International Life member, City of Indianapolis proclaims April 26th as John Thomas Kirk Jr. Day, Honorary Lieutenant Governor for the State of Indiana, and recipient of the State of Indiana’s Sagamore of the Wabash.
A loving husband to his late wife Edith, John is survived by his sister, Charlotte McKinzie ; children: L. Thomas (Pat) Kirk, Linda (Tom) Webster, Kenny (Sharon) Kirk, Robert William Kirk; grandchildren, Tami, John, Christopher, Angie, Robbie, Erick, Aaron, Ricky, and Nikki; and great-grandchildren, Kylee, Karsen, Robyn, Klaudia, Klara, Abby, McKenna, Charlie, Eli, Hudson, and Channing.
