      Report: Hilbert mansion to be auctioned

      The Wall Street Journal reported today that the mansion formerly owned by ex-Conseco chief executive Stephen Hilbert will be auctioned after previous failed efforts to sell the property.
      The 25,000-square-foot Le Chateau Renaissance in Carmel was originally listed for $20 million five years ago before the asking price was cut in half last year. According to the report, Prudential Indiana Realty Group is running a sealed-bid auction on www.IndianaMansion.com. Potential bidders are said to be able to tour the home until Aug. 20 but all bids must be submitted by Aug. 27.


      Correction

      In the July 13 issue of Current in Carmel it was reported that $1.2 million was deappropriated from other funds to replenish the rainy day fund. This is planned but has not yet occurred.

      Fishers marketing firm will move to IDC and handle center's marketing

      An established marketing firm from Fishers will soon relocate to Carmel's Indiana Design Center and help market the new building.
      Silver Square, Inc. is a 10-year-old marketing and design firm currently in Fishers. The company announced this week that it agreed to a three-year contract with the IDC to move into the building this summer and handle all of the center's marketing efforts.Silver Square's clients include Bingham McHale LLP, Peter Dunn, Indiana Small Business Development Center and another future IDC tenant, artist Walter Knabe.


      Walter Knabe Studios joins IDC

      Pedcor Companies announced that it has executed a lease with renowned, Indiana-based artist, Walter Knabe. The new Walter Knabe Studios located on the second level of the Indiana Design Center will be complete this summer.
      Walter Knabe’s handcrafted artwork and designs include wallcoverings, fabric, and other home décor and
      can be seen in the collections of Chanel Inc., Eli Lilly & Company, Michael Jordan, Madonna, The White House and Richard Gere, among others.

      Pedcor Companies announced that it has executed a lease with renowned, Indiana-based artist, Walter Knabe. The new Walter Knabe Studios located on the second level of the Indiana Design Center will be complete this summer.

      Walter Knabe’s handcrafted artwork and designs include wallcoverings, fabric, and other home décor and
      can be seen in the collections of Chanel Inc., Eli Lilly & Company, Michael Jordan, Madonna, The White House and Richard Gere, among others.

      “The addition of Walter Knabe Studios to the Indiana Design
      Center exemplifies how the design center concept is attracting leading design professionals and industry businesses to one central location,” said Melissa Averitt, Vice President and Director of Marketing and Sales for Pedcor Companies.

      Knabe’s second level showroom will serve as a gallery, meeting space and production studio where projects will be managed from concept to completion and will include the screen-printing technique that Knabe developed while working for Andy Warhol.

      “I look forward to working from my new studio at the
      Indiana Design Center. The mix of talented designers, artists and business owners represented in the building will inspire great work and success among one another, “said Knabe.

      Walter Knabe Studios will join The Trade Source, J. Baker/Albert Square Ltd., and the Outré showrooms already open in the building. The Indiana Design Center also houses design professionals, such as Julie O’Brien Design Group, who have relocated their businesses to the design center. Along with several other showroom tenant negotiations underway for 2010, the Indiana Design Center is currently leasing space for a 4,200 square foot design resource library, a central feature of the design center. The resource library will include product catalogs and samples and product showcase opportunities for manufacturers.
