The Wall Street Journal reported today that the mansion formerly owned by ex-Conseco chief executive Stephen Hilbert will be auctioned after previous failed efforts to sell the property.
The 25,000-square-foot Le Chateau Renaissance in Carmel was originally listed for $20 million five years ago before the asking price was cut in half last year. According to the report, Prudential Indiana Realty Group is running a sealed-bid auction on www.IndianaMansion.com. Potential bidders are said to be able to tour the home until Aug. 20 but all bids must be submitted by Aug. 27.
