    I’m not going to refute the figures above, but showing only the average doesn’t necessarily mean that your car is safer. If the number of miles driven by automobiles is much larger than that of rail transit, which one would have to assume is true given the amount of mass transit rail vs. miles of roadway in the US, then the total number of fatalities would most likely be greater for automobiles. This seems to be a case of cherry-picking statistics to validate an argument.

      He’s deluding himself if he thinks C&D citing statistics implies causality. Change the traffic situation, and the numbers will do what? Just another reactionary citing numbers as if he knew what they mean.
