More to the point, the tax rate is scheduled to go down without the referendum because some of the money currently used to pay off bonds is no longer needed to do so because those bonds are being retired. In other words, that money is not currently being used for instruction, yet we are being told by the Carmel government school bureaucracy that hundreds of teachers will be laid off if we don’t subsidize them further. We also know that the number of students in the Carmel government schools will actually decrease in the next five years. So where are the bureaucrats putting all that money that they are currently extracting from our wallets, and why is it suddenly insufficient to teach the children who are warehoused with them?
