13 yr old director:
Seventh-grader Luke Broyles has won numerous film festival awards across the U.S. for his work (some listed below). Most recently, Luke traveled to Mali Africa to make a documentary about a remote village and their daily struggles. This past summer, Luke also traveled to Los Angeles to meet with staff at DreamWorks. Luke wrote and completed the 91pg sci-fi screenplay last year and has worked on the film itself for approx. 9 months, filming locally as well as in Western Indiana.
Numerous local businesses and individuals have supported Lukeʼs film and its premiere with finances, goods, and services, including Just Pop In, Atta Boy Plumbing, FISH window cleaning, Fazoliʼs and Marsh. Luke has created and produced several commercials for these local businesses financing the premiere; those commercials will be shown prior to the film.
In an effort to continue to give back to the remote village in Mali Africa Luke visited in 2011, Luke will be collecting donations at the premiere for NuMali,an organization that assists villages in attaining clean water and educational supplies. The Executive Director of NuMali will be present at Lukeʼs premiere to answer questions about his homeland, Mali, and the organizationʼs efforts. The documentary Luke made about Mali has been shown at film festivals in Indiana, California and Alabama and will be available for purchase.
