With approximately 1000 people convicted of driving while impaired in Hamilton County a year, the Hamilton County Traffic Safety Partnership will conduct various sobriety checkpoints throughout Hamilton County during the late hours of Oct. 31 and the early hours of Nov. 1.
The HCTSP, which includes the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Dept., Fishers Police Dept., Carmel Police Dept., Noblesville Police Dept., Westfield Police Dept. and Cicero Police Dept. – alongside assistance of the Indiana State Police – has not yet disclosed the placing of the checkpoints.
Once an officer makes initial contact with the driver of the vehicle, the process should take approximately two minutes. Yet if alcohol use is suspected, drivers are directed to a pull-off station to complete Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.
